How We Decide

    The decision to admit an applicant is based primarily on the applicant’s undergraduate grade point average (average 3.3) and admissions interview. In addition, the applicant will be assessed on:
    Personal Interview
    Applicants are chosen for interviews based on their academic performance. The interview team of one faculty member and one fourth-year student intern will assess an applicant’s ability to successfully complete the program.
    There are three components to the 45-minute interview:
    1. Scenarios with applicable questions (for which no prior medical knowledge is required)
    2. Questions related to motivation and familiarity with naturopathic medicine
    3. An opportunity for open dialogue
    Communication skills, commitment to naturopathic medicine and integrity will be assessed during the interview.
    Personal Statement/Essay
    Applicants are required to complete a personal statement/essay.
    Please follow the specific instructions included in the application.
    References
    Three letters of reference must be submitted online:
    • One academic reference
    • One reference from a regulated health-care professional
    • One reference from either of the above categories or a past employer/volunteer supervisor
    It is strongly recommended that you choose someone who has known you for two years or more who can comment on your capacity in the following areas:
    • Business management skills
    • High ethical standards and initiative
    • Demonstrated tolerance, compassion and empathy
    • Ability to handle stress and solve problems

    Interviews
    Interviews are conducted at ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ in Toronto for applicants who are able to travel to the campus. In extenuating circumstances, interviews may be conducted via Zoom or Skype for an applicant.

    The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine – ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ is committed to excellence in naturopathic education and to the success of our graduates. All candidates for admission are evaluated based on their academic history and personal interview, as well as their motivation for becoming a naturopathic doctor, leadership skills, problem solving and critical-thinking skills, and specific personal qualities and characteristics.
    Academic Requirements
    ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ’s - ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ accepts applicants from all duly licensed or accredited post-secondary institutions in Canada or abroad. Admissions requirements can be found here. Admission to the naturopathic program requires an undergraduate degree of no less than 90 credits with an expected minimum GPA of 2.7.

    All references must be requested through the NDCAS application portal.
    Personal Statement/Essay
    Applicants are required to complete a personal statement/ essay. Essay questions are included in the application. Please follow the specific instructions provided when answering the essay questions.
    Confidential References
    Three letters of reference must be submitted online through NDCAS. The following references are required:
    • One academic reference
    • One reference from a regulated health-care professional
    • One additional reference from either of the above categories or a past employer/volunteer
    • Referees must have known you for a minimum of one year, although it is strongly recommended that you choose someone who has known you for two years or more
    When selecting your referee, you should choose someone who can comment on your capacity in the following areas:

    Admission Decision

    All interviewed candidates will be informed of the decision by phone and/or email, typically within two weeks of the interview.
    Criminal Records Background Check
    All applicants offered a seat must adhere to the Criminal Records Check policy.

    All applicants offered a seat must adhere to the Immunization and Communicable Diseases policy.
    Clinic Entry Requirements
    Students must also submit a valid and current Standard First Aid CPR-HCP certificate before entry into the program’s clinical component.
